Synopsis

The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) has evolved over the past 20 years to become the most widely implemented strategy execution framework. The BSC has contributed to organisational success all over the world and increasingly used in all sectors of business and community, profit or non-profit, in the Middle East and specifically the Gulf. In recent years there has been a great deal of hype about the BSC and one objective of this workshop is not only to de-mystify the whole process but to provide a practical and effective approach to the BSC where delegates gain the necessary knowledge to apply and develop a BSC in their organisations.

Methodology and Topic Agenda

Through presentations, multi-media, case studies, group work and interactive sessions, delegates will learn and apply the BSC concepts. During this intensive 3-day workshop the following topics will be covered:

  • Overview of strategy, performance and the BSC
  • Assessment and analysis techniques as part of strategy formulation
  • Setting vision, mission, values and strategy
  • Developing strategic goals, themes, results and perspectives
  • Brain storming strategic objectives
  • Developing models for objective linkages – the strategy maps
  • Translating strategies into practical and logical performance measures and targets
  • Developing strategic initiatives and techniques to prioritize them for effective strategy execution
  • Real examples and good practices covering:
    • Stakeholder and customer
    • Organisational learning and people
    • Communication
    • Leadership and change management
  • Role of software
  • Organisational support with the Strategy Management Office

About the Workshop Leader

David Jalili is recognised as an expert in organisational performance and excellence. He is a Chartered Engineer and MBA (UK) with over 30 years extensive management and consultancy experience spanning multinationals, government and local groups in UK and the Middle East. David is a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, British Institute of Management, Institute of Management Consultants, Institute of Petroleum, British Business Group and the Dubai Quality Group. He is a certified EFQM assessor and Balanced Scorecard practitioner.

David founded Ibtikar Management Services (IMS) with specific focus on Performance and Excellence covering organisations and human resources. He has been working extensively in this area for the past 12 years, delivering and implementing strategy related projects, OPM, BSC and effectiveness in both English and Arabic and, where required, with his team of experienced consultants. As an example in excellence David and his team have supported many organisations win the prestigious DQA or MRM with at least one winner every year since 2003. He has also given seminars, lectures and conducted workshops for many organisations and throughout the gulf. David passionately believes in a practical approach to implementation where individuals are committed and the change process leads to effective performance transformation.
