Corporate Governance in global environment is having an impact on economic development in an increasing manner with issues like Corruption, Accountability, Non Governance, Board Ethics and Social responsibility of Global Corporations. Today’s Board of Directors has increased responsibility from all stake holders – Governments, Shareholders and Society at large.


The seminar will highlight the global trends in Corporate Governance in context of Listed companies as well as Family run Corporations and the responsibility of the Board of Directors towards stakeholders and society at large .

You will also understand the concept of Board effectiveness and Ethics practices and how various corporations can improve performance of the Boards.

The important role being played by Independent Directors in Global and local corporations will also be explained and how Family Run organizations can embrace the concepts of Corporate Governance and Independent Boards in UAE and Middle East.


Lt Gen J.S.Ahluwalia, PVSM (retd) is the president of the ‘Institute of Directors’ and of the ‘World Environment foundation’ (WEF). A Post Graduate in Electronics Engineering and MBA, and has specialized in engineering support to guided weapon systems. He retired from Indian army in Dec 1994, as the Chief Executive and Director General of the ‘Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers’ of the Indian Army. He was awarded the highest decoration of ‘Param Vishist Seva Medal’ by the President of India in January 1994.

He has authored a textbook on ‘TQM-Concepts and Practices’ in 1993, and edited and published over 20 books covering ‘Total Quality Management’, ‘Environment Management ‘ , ‘Corporate Governance’, ‘CSR’ and ‘sustainability’ published through Tata McGraw Hills and others.

A world Bank trained in ‘Train the Trainer ‘program for Corporate Governance, he is a much sought after specialist and trainer in CG, CSR and Integrated Management System.

He is also involved in IOD’s famed awards based on EFQM & Malcolm Baldrige – Golden Peacock Awards.
