GCAA partners with DQG

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – April 00, 2011: 
A delegation from Dubai Quality Group (DQG) visited the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in Dubai, after the Authority became a new supportive partner with the Group. The visit was with the intention to develop further relations with the GCAA.

The head of the visiting delegation, Mr. Saleh Janeeh, Chairman of DQG, bestowed a certificate of appreciation to H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA.

Janeeh stressed the importance of the partnership and its central role in activating and transferring outstanding experiences in all professional directions for both parties. He said that the partnership was something very important and a positive step, and it would expand horizons of cooperation and exchange in transferring expertise, knowledge, vision and ideas between the two sides. He pointed out that the GCAA is one of the largest, most important and vital bodies in the UAE, underlining its significance in being one of the supporting bodies of DQG. The DQG seeks activation of its partnerships with leading and most important government and private organizations and companies in the UAE.

The General Civil Aviation Authority was created in 1996 by Federal Cabinet Decree (Law 4) to regulate civil aviation and provide designated aviation services observing safety and security, to strengthen the UAE aviation industry.

H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi said that since 1996, the GCAA achieved significant progress by adopting new initiatives and ensuring provision of required services to its customers and shareholders in the aviation sector. "Many new projects and innovations have been initiated with generally excellent result, such as modernization of the air traffic control center program, radar equipments and establishment of new facilities, to serve the growth of the civil aviation within the UAE," he said.

Al Suwaidi averred that "the Authority constantly seeks to improve its programs, events and work mechanisms in a way that enhances its position professionally and practically". The partnership with the Dubai Quality Group, he said, was a necessary step in this approach that is based on parameters of excellence and quality, especially since the experience of the Group in supporting excellence and innovation was endless. It is still possible to strengthen this vision to reach the fullest extent of potential and achievement if the partners worked together, he said.

Since its beginning as a former directorate, the Authority has attained many recognitions and achievements, including the completion of the construction of its Abu Dhabi Headquarters, which contains the ATC center and other supporting facilities, the substantial completion and occupancy of the Dubai Regional Office building to better serve its Dubai and Northern Emirates clients, which is connected by an intra-net system networking with the Abu Dhabi Headquarters.

The GCAA has also created necessary comprehensive infrastructure to establish civil aviation services, including state-of-the-art ATC systems, Civil Aviation Regulations and AIP upgrades, Flight Safety Services procedures, internal HR structures and policies, and a host of other activities to ensure safe and efficient services. It is to be noted that the Authority’s continued success in its nationalization program with certification of national personnel in Flight Safety, Air Navigation and Administration & Finance Directorates, results in a nationalization effort reaching 100% in leadership positions and exceeding 40% of the GCAA workforce.
